Yeah, I took three guys to an after-hours party the other night, and they were obnoxious drunks the whole way, and then didn't tip me. I ended up being the one dispatched to take them home again later. The guy asked me for a discount, because hey, "You brought us down here, we're real good business for you." I told him I was completely aware they were regulars of our company, and that he was never going to get a discount from anyone unless he and his idiot friends started tipping, and made an effort to be pleasant to the driver. The only reason those guys haven't been no-hauled yet is because they've never actually assaulted anyone, and they do always pay their fare.
Why three people need a discount on a total $5.75 fare I have no idea. They can WALK the 0.62 miles if they're that broke.

What about those people that use a visa for a 3.00 fare, then DON'T even top it up to at least 5 bucks.

Tell the cheap, drunk prick that you just got a "denied" code for his card over the computer (I used to have one saved that I could call up for just such a situation). Now they gotta pay cash. No cash? Well, maaaayyybe you could take the card if there was a 20% security charge on top of the fare. Now you're the good guy and the numbnuts inebriate in the back seat is your pal. Plus, you just got your tip AND you've covered the 7% the cage skims off your credit slip.
