Subject: Ah, the fun of forums!

Ah yes, Aren't forums grand? Perhaps I am naive but I've always been under the impression that a forum is a place where one can go to share ideas,have discussions, sometimes debates, to express ones views on things. Recently , I've been coming across several forums who seem to be under the impression that a forum is a place of censorship, a place to harrass people of opposing viewpoints or just anyone they don't especially like, particularly if that person has an individual opinion about something that differs from their personal view. What happened to freedom of speech? Granted there must be certain limitations, such as not allowing people to attack race, creed ,color or sexual preference, and of course one must prohibit pornography. However, people should not be made afraid of posting at forums becauseof the attitudes of moderators or their friends. Especially when the forum is set up to represent a person,or a band or an idea, ie. fan sites, tribute sites etc. Not only does behavior like this cause bad feelings for people who go there only to express their views about their idols,etc. but it refects very badly on said idol, especially if it is stated that that person or persons is aware of the bad behavior and condones it. In my humble opinion, this kind of thing is completely at odds with the whole idea of the site in the first place , which is to promote that which it represents not make it look bad.
And so we come to this forum. As you can see, its rather small as of right now. However, I have hopes of it becoming more established in the near future. When that happens, I will strive to avoid the kind of thing that this post has been about. I've seen good people hurt for no reason and this will not happen here. If someone does come to make trouble, they will be taken care of and that will be that. Otherwise I hope that people will be able to feel comfortable coming here, and will want to return.
Any suggestions are VERY welcome. I hope to do some tribute pages of my own in the near future.
