I'm beginning to think the Gatewater Whirlpool is less likely to be a reality in the game.

First, it was announced in the UOHoC chat tonight that there will be recall across facets with the Age of Shadows. Whether or not that means all facets (Felucca, Trammel, Ilshenar, and Malas), or just Trammel and Malas, remains to be seen.

Second of all, the new story picks up where the first one left off. It is clear now that this whirlpool was, in the past of Malas, the only way to get there. The folks in the story all came to Malas via the whirlpool, and cannot return to Britannia. And they refer to the lake as "Gatewater", but we know on the current map it's "Gravewater". So, I predict that in the third story next week we'll see something about the closing of the whirlpool and the opening of regular moongates at Luna and Umbra.

So, it was a nice thought, but I don't think we'll see any whirlpools that lead to Malas - although, as my theory states, it certainly could be done. But when has OSI gone out of their way to add something that cool to the seas?
