Subject: Some info on TIP rules

This info was taken directly from the TIP message board. Apparently the rules governing battles are now meant to be decided on before each battle. What this means, if you are not in the "Loop", you will not be informed of the ruleset for the current battle. Battles in the TIP will most often be decided by arbitrators instead of the direct outcome of the battle. Please read and make your own decision.

Battle Rules
Completely written by Jared Farstrider

The Rules below are here to help balance out and enhance the experience of guild warfare, they have been created and are aimed at guilds participating in the Territorial War Project, the rules below must be chosen in advance and be mutually agreed upon.

In most cases there will be a TWP Referee present during the conflict, to monitor the adherence to the chosen rules.

With regards to conduct, respect your fellow players, regardless of whose side they are on, please try to remain in character at all times, and save any OOC disagreements for after the battle.

No Looting - Neither side is to loot the corpses of the opposing guild.

Looting - Members are free to loot the corpses of the fallen from the opposing guild.

Limited Looting - Looting is allowed of specific item types such as weapons, reagents, and ammunition.

No Tamed Pets - No tamed pets of any kind allowed, this also applies to summoned creatures, and constructed Golems.

Tamed Pets - Either side can use tamed pets, Golems or summoned creatures.

Balanced Tamed Pets - Both sides are free to use tamed pets, Golems or summoned creatures, however the number of these creatures must balance out, if one side uses an Ancient Wyrm the other side must be able to use such a beast.

No Magical Pets - Both guilds must refrain from employing magical tamed pets, i.e. Dragons, Mares. Instead they are limited to the use of creatures such as Golems, Dire Wolves, Hell Hounds and Drakes, this also applies to the summoning of creatures able to cast magic, i.e. Daemons, Air Elementals.

No Stealing - No stealing is permitted, nothing is to be taken in battle unless prior consent is given.

Stealing - Stealing is freely allowed.

Limited Stealing - Stealing is allowed of specific item types such as weapons, reagents, and ammunition.

One life - Once you have been killed by a member of the opposing guild, you remain either dead, or on resurrection remain in your deathrobe, you are free to leave the battle, but cannot remove the robe and rejoin the fighting.

Resurrections - All dead players can be resurrected and are free to join in the fighting once they have removed they’re robes, once a robe is removed it will open you up to attack by the opposing guild.

Drobing - Once a player is resurrected that player is open to attack by the enemy, they can be engaged and killed regardless of the deathrobe they are wearing on resurrection.

No Drobing - Players that are Resurrected and wearing dethrobes are discounted from combat, they can neither attack or be attacked whilst wearing the deathrobe, it is the sign of the non-combatant.

No Poisoned Weapons - No poisoned weapons of any type are allowed by any member of either guild, this does not include the Magery spell(s) Poison or Poison field.

Poisoned Weapons - any member of either guild can employ poisoned weapons of any type.

No Camping - Members of either guild are prevented from camping the opposing guilds base or buildings.

Camping - Members of either guild can lay siege to the opposing guilds base or buildings should they retreat to them.

Fighting in Towns - Battle may be joined, whilst within the boundaries of a town (within the guardzone).

No Fighting within Towns - Battle may not be joined, whilst within the boundaries of a town (within the guardzone).

No Magic Armour/Weapons - Members of either guild are prevented from employing magic weapons or armour.

Magic Weapons/Armour - Members of either guild may employ magic armour or weapons.

I know we were out of the RP scene for a short time, but I can not understand how things have degraded to this. The TIP seems to have been designed to pull everyone into IRC or other out of game meetings. Without static rules and with too many arbitrations I can see only grief ahead for anyone involved. I think we have done the right thing in choosing to be neutral to the reagency. Perhaps in time another ambitious individual or group of individuals will come up with a RP project that everyone can agree on. Perhaps until then we should work with individual guilds who have similar opinions.
