Subject: *sails ashore at Land's End*

Looks like I've missed quite a bit of the usual Atlantic RP action, folks. I never seem to be in port when this kind of trouble stirs up, and for that I apologize. And to be honest, I've never understood elitism in any form. Being a fisherman is probably the greatest path to the virtue of Humilty in the world these days, as some of you can attest.

As for my own journeys, they have taken me far far away, to many ports petitioning gods and governors alike to revitalize the seas. These efforts have ultimately failed miserably, as said gods turn their attention to the land of Ilshenar and to the now numerous blacksmiths of the realm.

The truth is, I return to you an older, wearier Commodore than you might remember, discouraged and disheartened by the way the world we live in is shaping up. I search vast libraries in every port I visit, looking for the light at the end of this dark tunnel, and there is none.

I stop in bustling cities such as Britain in Trammel and see a different generation of citizens, engrossed in showing off their exotic tamed mounts and pets and gear at the bank to each other. I visit places in Felucca I remember as deadly and dangerous and find them deserted. The only folks I encounter at sea are mages often stuck in the "sea trance", a zombified state of unawareness where they cast spells over and over for no apparent reason. I return to my own log cabin on Fire Island and grow melancholy as I look about at the scattered trinkets that serve to remind me of friends long gone and the better times we had.

So I ask - what is left for me in this world? Fishing is dead, ship combat unnecessary and unwanted, I have all the personal wealth I need, I have fought and defeated monsters of every sort repeatedly...what is left?

There are only three things left binding this old man to this world now. First on that list is you, my few remaining friends in Sosaria who share the same values I hold as important. Second is freedom, to do so much in this world. Such freedom means that, with enough imagination and hard work, there might still be glory left to attain together. Finally is discovery - the remote possibility that occurs every day in Sosaria, with every adventure, of discovering something new and unusual.

Seeing as things seem to have gone sour with the Atlantic RP community (and I agree with what you said over there, Lil and Elon, even though I was not present), what can we do next? What glory can we achieve, what new and innovative things can we start or discover? I am unsure of the answer, but I hope we can find it soon for I grow more embittered and weary of this world of ours every day.

Please, feel free to comment on these words with Honesty ( another great virtue fishers get crammed down their throats).

Commodore Vic Twenty
