One of the nicest guys you could ever meet. When I was a kid, he was always willing to answer my MANY stupid questions, let me roam around his shop and lend me ENDLESS advice. He also did alot of machine work for my father and I. One time at Cajon Speedway, after a main event (that he probably won)he let me sit in his Super Stock....man I'll never for get that (the smell of hot tires, oil and race fuel). What a tragic loss!

Ed was a nice guy. He built my first motor since I moved to Cali from TX. It was good enough to do battle on the CR and keep the "Valley" racers at bay for a couple months running. Not bad for a little "Hale" small block in my boat of a Chevelle, beating up on all the big blocks. He was always happy to answer any of my questions no matter how much I called and bugged him. What a tragic loss to all San Diego car enthusiasts that were lucky enough to meet him. RIP Ed!!!

I agree. Sad to loose such a young, tallented, honest & all around GREAT guy.

I attended the service for Ed at the Sunrise(?) church this week. Standing room only!!! It was good to see all the local car people come together to honor the loss of a great man. It was like one giant family. I saw so many people that I hadn't seen in 10 or more years. It was great to see them but sad that we had to be brought back together on such a somber note. Rest in Peace Ed Hale!!!!!
