Subject: So true - can't develop a following or fall in love with characters when they keep cancelling shows!

But hope still springs eternal. :)

Buffy's had 7 years, and probably could've had another 1, maybe two. Charmed is in S5, and is renewed for another. The queen of syndicated kick-ass, Xena, had a six year run on her own, with several appearances on Hercules [itself six and a half seasons]. Angel, well, apparently the problem with announcing whether the show was renewed, is that the show is in contract negotiations - NOT necessarily that it's in danger of cancellation. Having said that, I still think people should sign the petitions, etc, just to be on the safe side. :) Angel's coming up on five seasons. Farscape, which I did love, but have to admit could be hard to keep up with if you weren't able to watch it every time, made it to 4 seasons, with a possible movie or two. Like most people of sense, I believe Farscape should've had a longer lifespan. Highlander made 6 seasons, plus a couple of movies. X-Files, 9 seasons, one film, one in the works. I'm sure there are others, that I just can't think of, both survivors and those that were cancelled too quickly.

Basically, while it kills me when a show like Witchblade, or Birds, Haunted, Kindred [anyone else remember that one, from '96? excellent show, killed off way too quickly...] is cancelled, I have to remember at least some do make it past 2 seasons. The difference is whether we sit back and let it happen, or at least attempt to do something about it ~ from what I know of the people on this board, most tend to be doers, not sitters. :) Altho the WB campaign apparently didn't work, I don't think it had anything to do with the fans, or a lack thereof - and the suits know that. That's why every season usually brings a few genre shows, because TPTB know genre fans are the most loyal of all. :)
