Subject: [OT, spoilers] BtVS - you know I have to post my thoughts. :)

Ok, so they aren't original thoughts, because I've also posted them at the SolitaryPhoenix board, but well, they're both boards for my sites [grins]. Anyway, onto my first thoughts about Buffy's series finale...

I read an article that said Joss wanted the fans sad at the passing of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I'm here to say, worked for me.

Of course, I didn't sit and cry thru the whole thing. I laughed at Spike's picture of Angel, and when Dawn kicked Buffy's shoe. I really liked the tentative pairing of Robin and Faith - a really interesting choice, given her history with principals. :) I loved the whole every-potential-slayer-awakened thing - I mean, aren't all we women potentials in waiting? I cried at Willow's emergence from her darkness, her clear joy at her sucess and ability -finally- to use her power, and be herself, without fear. And at Buffy, finally able to admit she loved Spike, even if it was only for that moment, only long enough for her to utter the words. Whether she will tomorrow is another story, but right now I'm living in the Buffy finale, not the Angel premiere. What matters is she said it, he heard it. Flip side...

Anya dead. Spike dead - although unless it was all some bizarre conspiracy to mess with us all, Spike can't really be dead, because he's going to LA to be on Angel. But, as much as I cried when Anya was killed, and when Spike gave of himself to save all, those aren't what is making my heart heavy ... Buffy the Vampire Slayer as we know it, is now over. I'll see it again on DVD's; I've already started my collection, but it won't be the same. I'll watch anything Joss puts out within the "Buffy-verse", but it won't be the same. No matter how silly the name was, how many times people snickered when I said I was a fan, no matter how old I get, or how many times a storyline pissed me off, I loved this series about a teenage girl that could, with a little help from her friends.

Well, Joss, you suceeded - I'm sad. Thank you. Truly. :)
