For me Khariton and Alburt are enough reliable sources and I tend to believe them. They certainly know a lot about the issue.

Alburt wrote that first of all they needed the rightest person would come on top. Karpov was.

>You can speculate that, with the right circumstances,

I am convinced that only dishonest person uses such dirty tricks in his favour and it is disgusting.

>Evans article is a clear example of the "low

Evans article appeared in 1986, after "The circus of Karpomanes" and Karpov's defeat from Kasparov.

But what I meant is the low recognation
>he got earlier in his life. Sosonko also remembered
>that he had a low opinion of Karpov as a chessplayer.
>He thought Karpov was just an avarage player.

He is wrong, because average players don't participate in World championship. All the players of such level are talented.

Also
>Kortsnoj had no idea how strong Karpov was. They
>completely underestimated him. That's due to the style
>of Karpov. He has an enormous talent for the natural

>effective.

If he just played honestly and nobody helped him and he did not use intrigues, he wouldn't deserve the low recognition. Karpov has nobody to blame but himself.
