I was reading through this board and just can not believe all the trash and negative comments, all the name calling and bickering. Both my son and daughter compete in the Sunburst Prelims and State, we haven't been to a national yet, but wouldn't mind doing so in the future. This is my son's third year competing in Sunburst and my daughter's first. Both of them did very well at the prelims, my son winning every category and first runner up, my daughter winning her age group, casualwear, photogenic and prettiest smile. We love Sunburst and I have nothing bad to say about it. What is wrong with "newbies" coming to the nationals and winning? I will admit that I do not know everything about beauty pageants, but I think I know enough to see that just because you are considered a "big name" you do not deserve to win automatically. If that was the case, they would just mail out the crowns and banners to these "Big names" when they sent in their entry forms, to save everyone else all the time and effort! Let's not forget, your children did not wake up with a whole slew of prestigious titles under their belts, that appeared from no where. Way back when, your child was the newbie, remember? If it wasn't for that first big win, that you thought would never happen, you wouldn't be here now, making refrences to the inexperienced "newbies" And as far as Sunburst being racist, that's ridiculous, their have been lots of winners in our State that were of different races, or bi-racial. Let's try to remeber that the whole point behind this is to have a fun, spending time with your kids. Win some and lose some and do them both gracefully....your children will gain much more from this than any "Supreme" title!! Maybe we'll see you all at a national some day, wish us "newbies" good luck and be nice....because don't forget your glitzy, experienced kids are the ones ours look up to and want to be like!!

I am competing for my first time in sunburst. I was wondering how much is the fee was to enter the prelims? I lost my info sheet. The way I understand it, do you just go to the mall with a dress and say yor speech and anwser questions? Any additional info would be great!!!

I totally agree with you. This is my first time ever doing a pageant and I'm having a lot of fun. I don't think you have to be experienced to win. Judges always look for fresh, new faces and don't want to see the same thing. I don't know how I'll do at states, or if I'll even go to nationals, but I just want to have fun. I don't think parents should be on here trash talking about other kids. Thats really wrong. I'm a kid and I even know better than that. Remember this is a pageant for natural beauty, not fake beauty.
