Subject: After a quick battle with the ice minions the 2 were interrupted by something...

Unknowing as they were, an army was awating them outside. The 2 walked out after hearing the classic "You have no where to run!".
Vex looked calm as always, but Shalinoth looked a bit concerned when he saw a horse rider among the crowd. Usually that meant a commander of some kind. If they needed one, thay meant business.

Scanning the perimeter, Vex looks casually at the loads of soldiers and without a second thought, he rushes right in just as the leader was saying "YOU MUST SURRENDER THE..."

In a flurry of swords and yells, several of them went down as Vex made his way to the rider. By running throught the crowd, he was unnoticed and got up close enough to point his sword at him. It was too late, they had lost.
With the commander help up by Vex, the army was forced to give in.
"Foolish. Nothing but a weakness. Say what you wanted from us...NOW!"
The commander replied with a smirk, "Ha hah, you really are the fools here, this was only a test..."
"Shalinoth, RUN!!" Vex shouts as he throws the commander aside.
Shalintoh looks around and hurries through the soldiers, shoving them aside. As he pushes his way through the crowd, he sees an opening as...

He looks up in horror...Kayne himself is standing there. A large man, fully armored and holding a massive sword. A truly frightening sight. More so because of what he stands for. The lives of people are meaningless to him. What he wants is still unknown but he puts his soldiers on the line for anything he does go for.

Shalintoh stands there stunned but trying to think of a way out of this situation. As Kayne speaks up a chill goes down his spine, his voice is as cold as the void of space. His heart is even emptier as what he now says proves his utter disrespect for life.
"Shalintoh, you have been hiding from me. Why are you prolonging your death?"
Trying to look confident but obviously shaking, Shalintoh speaks up, "I'm not a kid you know, I can defend myself. You won't be able to stop me and Vex so easily."
A sinister smile appears on his face, "Shalinoth, you are a mage right? But your powers are miniscule at best, and this, Vex, you speak of, I shall kill him myself to prove you are as worthless as you were before."
"Before? What are you talking about?"
"Enough for now, watch your friend as he dies at my hands."
*Gathering some courage, "Stop it Kayne. He has nothing to do with you. Leave him alone"
"I do what I wish. And I DO have a reason to dispose of him...he is a Dragon Slayer."
From behind him, a sudden rush attack from Vex is stopped by Kayne as he meets Vex's sword with his own. Easily overpowering Vex, he throws him down to the ground.
"VEX! Don't get close to him, He's a monster!" Shalinoth tries to reach for Vex to pull him up as Kayne swings at him...

Shalinoth is brought to his knees, but with only a small wound. He quickly chants a cure spell in hopes of saving himself and Vex.
He gets up and moves away from Kayne, recovering from the attack. Vex is up now and preparing to attack again. Kayne looks at him with a bit of a glare in his eyes. "What is wrong with? Have you no idea who I am?"
Vex holds his ground and looks face to face with him, "You, are a coward. Why didn't you just challenge me yourself instead of the army?
"Little things Vex, you should know that these don't matter."
"You talk as if you understand me. YOU are the one in trouble!"
"My my, come then. I WILL fight my own battle."

Vex comes rushing in on him, like he always does, but is stopped again by Kayne's sword. "Why do you resist Vex?" The 2, while in a sword lock, Vex replies, "Why do YOU fail to see what you are?"
Kayne takes his sword back and rests it beside him. "What are you saying? Have the dragons made you mad? I am no monster, I am an Emporer!"
Vex does his usual rush to take advantage of his opponent's lowered gaurd. But failing to remember there are no mistakes by a swordsman, Vex proves himself blinded by the Rage. A Sword is not a weapon, it is part of a swordsman. Lowering it was not going to stop him from using it.
And when Vex came rushing in...It was then he remembered...

Nothing more ws left, the sword of Kayne had struck again. Vex looked down to see it in him. He looked up at Kayne to see him smile. Then Vex fell to the ground. But this time, he did not get up.

Shalinoth looks in horror as his new found friend, is lost. Vex is left lying there as Kayne walks over to Shalinoth now. "See your foolish friend? He's paid the price for standing against me and my conquest. Now what do you have to say for yourself?"
"You won't take me down!" I'll protect the dragons from you until my last breath!!"
"Silly mage. if only you were a bit stronger, you could work for me in my army. But there is an end to everything. You cannot stop me. No one on earth can!"
"Why? Why Kayne? Why have you done these things? At least tell me what is the point to all of it."

"There is nothing more for you...No more trying to save the dragons. Its all over..."
Kayne walks slowly up to Shalinoth as he takes his sword up in both hands, meanwhile Shalintoh is preparing his most powerful spell to throw at him in the hopes of giving him the time needed to escape. But it's too late, Kayne is upon him and he must attack now, so with all his might he casts his spell right in his Kayne's face.

An explosion goes off right at him but he keeps walking, as if he is immortal. Shalinoth treis to run but is stopped. He stares at the cold metal blade, only inches away from him. Something looks odd about it though. Besides the strange markings on it, he notices there is no blood on it. "Kayne!"
"What is it, you wish to plead for your life?"
"No, it's Vex, you did not kill him..And you know it...What is happening?"
"Haven't you figured us out yet? Wake up Shalinoth! You are not seeing what is truly happening..."
"WAKE UP SHAlINOTH!...WAKE UP!!"
Suddenly, his back feels very cold and he sees a wall covered in ice. Then Vex shakes him and says, "Are you okay?? Those frozen creatures nearly got you."
