Charles,

Have you had any further luck digging up info on our relatives? The 1860 Smyth County, VA, census shows the Osborns living next door to the Frys... Thus, the connection of how my ggg-grandaddy Levi and ggg-grandma Martha met. However, I am having a very, very hard time connecting the dots after that time.

Obviously, Levi died before the 1870 census. Martha may have remarried. God knows what happened to most of the Osborns by 1870. George W. shows up again in Ashe County, NC, by 1880, but I can't find him anywhere in 1870. There is a Laura Osburn living with a Jones family in Ashe County, NC, in 1870, with lots of Osburns (sp) living nearby, but I am not sure if that's my gg-grandma or not.

The Civil War certainly would have been a disreuptive force for families of the period, so who knows who was left to raise Laura!

Let me know if you've made further progress.

Thanks,

Rick Shelton
