. I felt sad for ages when Alf passed away.We were friends for years. He used to visit me twice a month and every week during the winter. I loved hearing all his amusing stories. He was a regular at Charnock Richard's antique fair form the late 70's nearly every Sunday. His house was stacked with wooden crates from Liverpool market, two rooms were up to the celings. He used to bring a box over to my place and I take a photographs of Alf's extensive collection . I loved the detail in his George Tinworth's mice groups . The prided collection of 16 George Tinworth's terra cotta panels, showing biblical scenes. It was sad that he just kept everything in boxes at his nursery. All for his loving daughter Lorna Rapley to sell to buy her dream cottage in Cornwall.
Alf the potter he never did Exhibit his hand carved pots.He wanted to sell them for over £50,000.He just never had the time.It was hard work growing plants and selling them in Liverpool market. He never retired he did well selling plants at car boots.
At long last I have got round to getting my Photographs of part about 85% Alf's collection into a digital format. . I'm thinking of putting them on Flicker.I curious what was in the last 20 odd wooden crates. I will never know
