Subject: Joseph Osburn

Seeking any info on a Joseph Osburn from around 1800. Joseph married Mary Gildersleeve. They had one son that I know of, John Osburn b.28 Feb. 1822, d.1 Jul. 1902. He married Mary Bunker b.26 Aug. 1830, d.26 Feb. 1875. Their one offspring, that I know of, Albert Osburn was born 1 Sept. 1847, died 13 July 1918. Albert married Malinda Stutsman, born 8 Aug. 1830, died 20 April 1944.

These two are my great grandparents through their daughter Geneva Osburn who married Joe Mouthaan and settled in the Grant, Michigan area to raise their 9 children who survived birth. Joe was born Johannes Mouthaan in the Netherlands, he came to the US as a toddler. When he settled with Geneva in Grant, Michigan he made his living as an onion farmer.

In addition to Geneva, Albert and Malinda had 10 other children. I have the list of their names and offspring, marriages, etc. There being 657 family names on this list my fingers would grow weary typing it all in here so if anyone is interested they can e-mail me and I will check it for your relations.

Additionally, there has been an Osburn Reunion held every year since 1952 in the Grant, Michigan area...It is held on the 3rd or 4th Sunday of August. The last 10 years or so it has been held at the Kent City Park in Kent City, Michigan. Starts at 1:00 pm, everybody brings a dish to pass and their own beverage and table service. If anybody is interested I'll try to pin down the date more firmly, you can e-mail me with queries. reply to conwaid@hotmail.com
