I see that I will have to update my home page for sure. Back when I posted that I was an innocent rookie. The info did not come from Blakey's book unless my great Aunt took it from there. It turns out that it actually come from family oral tradition that was fist set down in writing in the early part of the 20th century by one of my Henson relatives.

Since posting that report, I have been on line many times in many places to point out that (1) I live about 12 miles from the home place of the Loudoun Osburns, (2) have extensive and detailed data about them, and can easily prove that their William born in 1749 could not be Jesse Osborn's father. While there are some pretty good theories about who Jesse Osborn descended from, their is not absolute proof that I am aware. Howard Osburn makes a very strong case that Jesse is actually related to the family of Capt Enoch Osborne. His is perhaps the most logical argument the I have heard to date. And while there are no obvious facts extent to connect his Osborne family to the Osburn brothers of Loudoun Co., VA I offer the following as a matter of conjecture and interest:

1) It is believed that he father of John and Nicholas Osburn of Loudoun Co., VA used the spelling of Osborne for his name.

2) Loudoun Co., VA is just a few miles across the Blue Ridge Mtns. from where Howard O. locates many of his Osborne relatives in WVA

3) I have well documented evidence that the offspring of John and Nicholas Osburn moved into what was Frederick Co., VA and is now W. VA.

4) I have less good documentation that suggests that Capt. Enoch Osborne lived in Loudoun Co. for some time - - perhaps during the Rev. War.

5) Descendents of John an Nicholas migrated into eastern KY where we find them, Osbornes related to Capt. Enoch and Jesse who is well documented in regard to his life there.

So yes, bad boy Bill did have some bad data on his page (could be more as I was far less carefull about documenting things then), but he shares this particular error with many other folk so don't be too hard on him for his rookie efforts.

Better yet, if anyone out there can really put some hard evidence on the table regarding the origins of Jesse Osborn of Mudlick in what is now Johnson Co., KY please tell me. My email address is mattheis.bill@hq.navy.mil. As far as the balance the Osburn data on my sight. Been there a while but still pretty darned good.

William/Bill (Older and Wiser)
