Subject: Osborns of Caldwell Co, KY, from 1800

Hello everyone. My gggGrandfather is Charles Erbey OSBORN who appears in the 1840 and 1850 censuses in Caldwell Co, KY. I have not been able to find direct verification, but a lot of circumstantial evidence indicates that his parents were David OSBORN, b1756-1754, and second wife Sarah Barnett, b1781-1790. There are a David and two William OSBORN’s shown in the 1800 Laurens Co, SC census who are probably the same one’s who show up in the 1810 Caldwell Co KY census, thus it appears they migrated to KY in about 1800. David and the older William were possibly brothers, and the younger William is possibly the son of the older William. William Sr had a son Isham E. OSBORN,b1794. Isham and David were very active in Caldwell, Trigg, and Lyon
Co’s from 1800 to 1860 and show up in lots of records there. Davids children are Benjamin J. OSBORN, b abt 1802, from unknown first wife, and Susan, Bartholomew, Charles Erbey, and Mary, born in the 1811 to 1830 period from second wife Sarah(Sally) BARNETT. In 1850, my gggGF Charles Erbey, moved to Johnson Co, IL and my line continues from that area. All the above is documented on my cousins RootsWeb site at:

Click on O, then OSBORN, then Unk David Father OSBORN, who is the current patriarch of my line, to see how it all plays out. There are a lot of notes on sources on the pages there too. So, I’m looking for several things: direct verification of David being the father of Charles Erbey; any info or help on finding the parents of David in SC/NC/VA; any other info on the OSBORN’s of Caldwell, Trigg, Lyon, Livingston Co, KY; and info on Sarah Barnett’s pedigree. It sure would be nice if I could connect David to someone elses tree. Thanks for your help, and I hope this is useful to someone out there. Tom Osborne
