Subject: Re: 1997 Nissan Altima

We've been having a problem for several months, sometimes the service engine soon light comes on sometimes not. the car runs fine and then not. we've had a tune up, oil change
a couple of times, it does it when the gas is low and when its high, we tried the more expensive and the cheap gas but nothing seems to help. The shop has cleaned out the fuel jets, replaced spark plugs again. When you come to a stop the car wants to stall or sometimes even when your in the stait away at forty miles an hour it acts like it wants to cut off and if you press on the gas you get black smoke. When you press on the gas when its running rough it acts as if something is holding it back, and then it will clear up and you can smell gas as if its been flooded out. They've put it on the computer at the shop and so far we've replaced 2 'O2' sensors and the cars 'ECM' (Computer) I think thats right, and now the day after the service engine soon is on again. Help!
