Subject: Select Shift Cruise-O-Matic three speed automatic transmission

In the late 60's and early 70's there was a Ford, Select Shift Cruise-O-Matic three speed automatic transmission. I could have sworn that there was an overdrive transmission, because it had an 'O' surrounding the 'D'. How was the overdrive applied, thru the trans, the rearend, or did it have an overdrive unit? Cause I know I could drive 90MPH in my mom's 65 LTD and the RPM was not that high. Thanks, Dennis
