Here is a copy of the letter Dor wrote, with some sentences I added to make it sound more formal...
Hi! My name is Dorothy Dotson. I am writing to you on behalf of the planning committee of the Southern California RAINN Event. I am proud to inform you about the newest way to show your support for RAINN and have an enjoyable evening while you’re at it. RAINN’s latest fundraising endeavor is called Happy Birthday Tori, in honor of one of its founding members. Parties are being thrown all over the world celebrating Tori Amos's 38th Birthday, while raising much-needed funds for the hotline. RAINN hopes to raise $100,000 worldwide through this fundraiser, and we’re hoping you can help contribute to that goal. There are currently over 200 parties being planned in major cities nationwide and worldwide.
We would like to cordially invite you to the SoCal Happy Birthday Tori RAINN Event, a wonderful evening planned for RAINN supporters and Tori Amos fans throughout the Southland. It will be held at Quest Studio in Santa Monica on Friday, August 24th. We have non-stop food, entertainment, and goodies planned, to make sure your donation is well worth it!
You will be treated to an evening of live musical performances from talented musicians - Faith and the Muse, Joe 90, Hailey Kyees and Chris Leturzo, as well as a delicious array of food donated from local restaurants and catering companies. Also featured is a silent auction and raffle, including prizes worth thousands of dollars total. And last but definitely not least, there will be complimentary make-overs from Skin Market makeup artists. You will find an order form enclosed with a few different ways you can participate in this fundraiser. This is a wonderful way to support RAINN and meet other great people in our community. We hope to see you there, but if for some reason you are unable to attend, we hope you will extend your generosity and send in a donation. With a $20.00 donation, you will receive five limited edition photos of Tori Amos, that you cannot find anywhere else. A $38.00 donation adds your name to the Birthday Card we’re giving to Tori after our party. A donation in any amount will add your name to our website after our event takes place.
