That's funny Dan. Flipper opened a free forum at Voy.com, from the same host server site, in Beverly Hills, CA, and you are saying that it is because this one doesn't load as fast? The only thing that he did differently is that he set it up to where you cannot see reply posts that people submit to each of the main messages. You want to know why this Forum loads so slow? Because it's coming from a server that is overloaded.
Our forum number was 40204. Flippers (9 months later) is 112687. What does that mean? That the Voy.com Forums database has nearly trippled this year. They cannot handle the number of reload requests that are handed to them. Unless you give them a grant to update their equipment, they are going to continue to get slower (they are still taking, and have no intention of stopping, more forums on). So, in essence, Flippers website is actually helping to slow down the server, and when he begins to get more posts on his site, it will also run slower, if he puts the page to where people can see the reply's.
But lets call an Apple an Apple, Flippers site says that he's upset (imagine that!) over the statement at the top of this forum that was a link to the TSR homepage that said "Jump to the real TSR homepage". Flipper called it 'rather aggressive', which it was. But what this really is is another melodramatic b-rated fight-scene written, produced and starring Flipper.
Flipper originally asked to put the TSR forum page on his page back in April. I said that was cool, but that I'd like him to make sure to put something up that said that it was a link to the topekasportriders.com Forum. Flipper had that page up for a while, but then, about 2 months ago, he just started linking straight to the Forum page..which isn't a big deal. I emailed him and asked him what happened, and to put the page back up. At first he ignored my emails, then he replied saying he didn't get any, so I asked him again, and he started ignoring them again.
So, I put the statement at the top of the Forum page about 2 weeks ago. If he wasn't going to give the props that he should, I'll advertise for him. Apparently he thought that was 'rather aggressive'.
What I don't get, Dan, is what's up with the Melodrama? Both Flip and Josh have told me that their website isnt' really a website..it's just a picture posting spot. And Flip has told me multiple times that he's not wanting to compete, just to offer another spot to look at pictures. Dale has even been trying to work with Flip to integrate the sites. But you posted on Flips forum "this here town ain't big enough for the two of us forums...". Which seems a bit competitive, and possibly even 'aggressive'. The melodrama that must go on when you and Flip are together must be Oscar-worthy.
I think it's great that Flip wants to run another Forum...best of luck. I just can't figure out at what started Flipper off on this Website competition. Maybe you guys need to find something that you can be competitive at besides this?
