Cory, I tend to sweep a little fast on land to try to cover more ground because I usually hunt after work and don't have much time before dark. In water I don't sweep fast, no. 1, it's hard to sweep fast in water especially with the 9x8 coil I have on my Bandido, it's so light you have to hold it down as well as sweeping it, no.2, I don't want to miss chains or bracelets or gold earings. Also I make sure I cover the area in front of me well. You know, like overlapping your last sweep so you don't miss anything. Still you will miss things, as careful as you can be you will miss some things. Go back the second and even the third time until you are satisfied you have found it all.
Hope I have answered your question. Use a slow sweep speed in water so you don't miss tiny or deep items.
P.S. don't drop your detector in the water like someone I know !!!!!! LOL.................HH'ing............Glenn...
