Talking about your hard earned wheat penny, one of the parks I hunt in O'burg is the same way. If you don't dig the iffy signals, you will only find foil and cut up cans.
But I have pulled 13 fired Union bullets from it by digging the iffy and tiny signals. From 6 to 10 inches deep! When I hit one of these tiny signals, I'll take a couple inches of dirt off and if the signal gets better, I dig it. Sometimes it's a 22 bullet or shell 6 or 8 in. deep, but sometimes it's a good target like a CW bullet or IH's or even a clad coin 10 inches deep. How do they get there??? Sometimes I think the Indians had modern coins and lost them back then !! LOL....On the other hand, at the same park, I found a Union Naval button at about 2 in. deep....Go figure!!
I can't find out what happened at this park for CW stuff to be here. Nothing Confederate, only Union...............
