Subject: Nice Navy button

Way to go. That is a nice union navy button. They are found infrequently in Union camps. The ones I have came from the Seven Days battles around Richmond, VA. There was no naval action here either, but evidently, the buttons and/or uniform jackets were worn by some in the infantry.

To illustrate a point, I found a Cameron Highlander(76th New York) button last year near Seven Pines, Va. That particular unit served at Bull Run but was never present around Richmond, Va. The jacket was supposedly pretty spiffy, so I imagine a Johnny Reb picked it up & brought it back to Richmond.

Good luck & happy hunting.
