Subject: Recent finds

These things are from Nov.15. I went to Silva, NC over the Thanksgiving hollidays and stopped at a park that was built while we lived there. It is about two years old. Thought maybe there would be some jewelry and clad coins. There were three or four people there so I decided not to detect but my wife wanted to. She took the Eldorado and started detecting. As soon as I started to get my Bandido II Umax out, two car loads of people pulled up. Well, I just shut the trunk and went over to where my wife was detecting. She was finding a good many clads and having fun with some kids that were helping her. She got tired and handed the Eldorado to me. I found some clad and had just found a Silver necklace and peace charm and looked up and saw a guy holding something up and walking towards me. When I looked at what he was holding up, I saw it was a badge. He said I'm a police officer and there's no detecting in this park. I was shocked as we had called the parks and rec. dept. and they said it was alright. Turns out this park belongs to the city not the county.(the parks and rec. dept. has no authority over city parks) Shoot !!! I didn't know there was a difference..When we told him we called, he said the county park was down the road, and the sign in front of the park said "NO METAL DETECTORS"..........
..............................................What Sign???
We both had walked about two feet from this sign and didn't see it!!! GO Figure!! Anyway he was nice about it and just asked us to stop detecting. Which we did imediately. He could have charged us probably, but he didn't. Hope everyone had fun and found some goodies over the holidays......HH'ing....................Glenn........
