Tom, welcome to our site and welcome to our hobby. Ron is absolutely right! Also, you are in the best place around to find civil war relics. Anywhere you can get permission to hunt on the island would be worth detecting. There was a ton of activity on James Island all war long so there could be relics anywhere you look !! Good luck and post your finds so we can see and enjoy them...I'm in St. Matthews but I do get down that way every now and then. Maybe I'll see you sometime.............................Glenn



P.S. remember to cover your holes and take all trash you dig with you when you leave..Anyone who gives you permission to hunt their land will apreaciate it!!
