HOT OFF THE HEELS OF THE SUMMER GAMES, NBC DAYTIME RETURNS WITH A SEPTEMBER HEAT WAVE

("Days of our Lives" and "Passions" airs on NBC daytime Monday - Friday. All dates below are subject to change, check local listings)

BURBANK, Calf. -- August 27, 2004 -- Beginning Monday, August 30, NBC Daytime programs "Days of our Lives" and "Passions" heat up the schedule again with a fall "season premiere" leading into a September to remember. On "Days of our Lives" the truth behind "Captive Island" is revealed and on "Passions," the past five-years have lead up to this moment when old mysteries are solved and new ones begin.

On "Days of our Lives," victims of the "Salem Stalker" learn, in detail, how they came to the island. The rescue begins on September 6. Then, on September 26, the question of how someone was able to fake 11 gruesome murders will finally be answered.

Meanwhile, back in Salem, Shawn Brady (Jason Cook) finally breaks free from Jan's (Heather Lindell) cage on September 17 and rushes to find the love of his life, Belle (Martha Madison). Believing Shawn has left her side forever, Belle has grown much closer to her best friend Philip Kiriakis (Kyle Brandt) and Shawn may be too late to stop his love from moving on.

Once bitter enemies, now passionate lovers engaged to be married, Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) and Lucas Roberts (Bryan Dattilo) continue to make wedding plans. The groom's mother Kate (Lauren Koslow) has some plans of her own to keep her son from marrying a woman she despises. Some familiar faces turn up in Salem when Brandon Walker (Matt Cedeno), half-brother of Nicole Walker Kiriakis (Arianne Zuker) and ex-husband of bride-to-be Sami Brady makes his way back into town. Another "ghost" from Nicole's past also returns when Justin Melvey reprises the role of Colin Murphy, the man Nicole murdered at her own wedding. Billie Reed (Julie Pinson), Bo's (Peter Reckell) former love, also returns on September 13, impacting Bo's relationship with his wife Hope (Kristian Alfonso).

After five years watching their favorite Harmony residents suffer at the hand of a villain whose face they could not see, "Passions" fans will get the moment they've been waiting for when, on September 27, the face of Alistair Crane is finally revealed. Veteran soap actor David Bailey plays the role. That same day, Alistair's ultimate betrayer, his long thought-dead wife Katherine Crane (Leigh Taylor-Young), returns to Harmony to confront her murderous husband.

Secrets of the past continue to haunt the Russell family. On September 2, Liz (Amelia Marshall) reveals the truth about TC's (Rodney Van Johnson) accident, driving Eve (Tracey Ross) back into Julian's (Ben Masters) arms. A shocking revelation will have a major impact on Whitney's (Brook Kerr) relationship with Chad (Charles Divins) on September 8. Meanwhile, Gwen (Liza Huber) and Ethan Winthrop (Eric Martsolf) continue to plan for their new family. However, Thersea Lopez-Fitzgerald (Lindsay Hartley), their surrogate, has plans of her own.

On September 13 and 14 a romantic commitment ceremony in Peurto Arena, Mexico leaves star-crossed lovers Luis (Galen Gering) and Sheridan (McKenzie Westmore) excited to return home and commit to one another before God and their loved ones in Harmony. Telemundo star Rebecca Jones makes a special guest appearance at the highly anticipated ceremony. Martin Fitzgerald (Richard Steinmetz) and Paloma (Silvana Arias) return to Harmony with Katherine to face their pasts, reunite with their families and begin new lives on September 23.

"Days of our Lives" is produced by Corday Productions Inc. in association with Columbia Pictures Television. Ken Corday is the executive producer. James E. Reilly is the headwriter.

"Passions" is produced by NBC Studios in association with Outpost Farms Productions, Inc. and is taped in Studio City, California. Lisa de Cazotte is the executive producer. James E. Reilly is the creator, headwriter and consulting producer.
