I think JER has gone to far this time, but who knows. It may be entertaining in the way Tabitha was teamed up with a living doll. Anyways here's more info this time reported from Michael Logan of TV Guide magazine and originally posted by Weirdwend. The other article is from NBC.
NBC's madcap Passions is about to introduce a major new character named Precious, a sassy nurse who is prone to romantic fantasies and addicted to home shopping. But get this: The role will be played by two orangutans named Bam Bam and Tango.
"If this works, it works, if it doesn’t, then I've done something really stupid!" cracks the soaps creator, James E. Reilly. Precious will join the show March 14 as caretaker for Mrs. Wallace, the notoriously incontinent, hilariously wicked shut-in played by Kathleen Noone. "But it's NOT that far-fetched," Reilly insists. "There is a whole new thing where primates are being used to help people with disabilities. We're just stretching the rubber band a bit."
And how, Reilly hints that Precious who will remain on the soap well into the summer she will have a rather lusty imagination and set her sights on Luis, the heartthrob hero played by Galen Gering.
If you think the Emmy winning Noone is aghast to be sharing scenes with a hairy ape, think again. "I just love that Passions is pushing the envelope this way," says the actress. "When I was offered the role last year, I was told the setup with Mrs. Wallace was a cross between ‘Throw Momma from the Train' and ‘What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?’. So I knew it was going to be wild, I just never imagined this.”
