Subject: Irony

So, I was having a nice night one time a while ago, maybe a couple months or so, and I was spinning some tunes and the neighbor came over and raved at me for being too loud and that I should take into consideration that she's 8 or 9 months pregnant and turn it down.

Well, the turn it down was sufficient and I shut it off and plugged in the headphones. Simple, easy, done.

For the last week or so, the music next door has been louder and louder. I can tell you that she likes Avril Lavigne a lot. Like repeatedly.

This morning, after going to bed at 3:25ish AM, I get woken up to Wicked Game by Chris Isaak. A good song, yes, but not the way to get up after less than 5 hours sleep.

I broke down, I wasn't mad, I wasn't pissed, I just wanted to make a point to her. I went and knocked on her door.

"Here's the deal, you wanted to have quiet, then I shut off my music, no problem, but now you are playing yours loud. It's one way or the other, but not both. If you wanna crank it, go ahead, but be warned that I keep different hours than you and I feel justified in turning mine up a bit in return.

Other thing, this is a row house and I'm on the end, I only have 1 neighbor, her, and she has neighbors on both sides of her."

She told me that her baby is collicky and that it helps him get to sleep. I understand that, he had nine months of heartbeat rhythm for sound and now that's gone, it's distressing for him. Loud music is a substitute.

The neighbor has quieted down some and I could probably go back to sleep, but I can still hear a little through the walls and I can always snag an afternoon nap, so I might just as well put on a couple songs myself and type out a semi-rant.

She also told me that she's moving to another apartment in the complex, so she won't be my neighbor for too much longer anyhow.

Yee Haw, now I'll have to develop an understanding with another neighbor.
