Subject: Invasive Add On programs

Don't you hate those programs that you are looking at installing, claim to be free, but it wants to add some other programs into the mix as a bundle package and then says that if you don't put in the bundle shit, then the program that you wanted to try out won't install or work at all ?

I just tried to install a free MP3 browser to download files. It asked me to install a bunch of other crap, including the much hated Gator.

Anyhow, the browser sucked, but then I had to uninstall 3 other things as well and one particular of those 3 actually popped up a Netscape Browser and forced me to fill out a form about why I wanted to uninstall their software.

Here's what I said to them:

"This program was forced onto me by another program, I didn't try it out and had no desire to try it out. I don't know what it does, and I don't care. If ever a time comes up that I do have some forseeable reason to use your product for whatever function it accomplishes, then I won't hesitate to try it out for size, but being told I arbitrarily need to install your program in order to use another program that didn't function as I desired is more than enough reason for me to not even bother trying it out and to uninstall everything associated with the other program that I didn't like. Guilt by association. I apologize if my comments are unjust in any way to you, but I have been using a computer for long enough to have decided what I like and what I don't like and my opinion as regards the situation in which I received and installed your program is no reflection whatsoever on your company or the product you offer. However, I will venture to say that making me fill out a feedback form simply to uninstall your program from my system strikes me as somewhat invasive. I shouldn't have to give a reason for something as trival as this, it should just do what it's been asked to do and get the hell off my system without throwing some damned form at me like this. Also of note, should I begin to receive any EMails from your company or any that may be affiliated with your company as a direct result of this form, I will not hesitate to take whatever actions I deem necessary to protect my privacy, especially if this badly designed uninstall program requests my EMail address or in any other way gives you any information on my habits or my internet preferences. I know how to operate within the registry of my computer and I will be looking for any Keys that are left as traces of your programming."

The shorter version, mentally, went something more r-rated.
As I was writing the feedback, I was thinking I should have just put "Fuck your Feedback, just Fuck off, Fuckheads."

BTW, Mom said I am swearing too much, thus the reason for the long version being Fedback. Plus the self-delusional idea that they may gather that feedback is a) annoying and b) they may reconsider the companies they choose to bundle with.

Laters, off to tinker in the Reg file for Traces. I notice their Uninstall failed to get the Start Menu Folder even though it successfully got the programs out.
