Spidey's a wuss. His motivation to be a superhero is merely to do good. While a laudable goal, he doesn't have the desire to compete with Batman, a dark, revenge-seeking mofo who wills himself to defeat any foe.

Spidey's superpowers are limited to those of perception and his only toy is shooting sillystring. Batman, while he has no SUPERpowers is immensely strong, has toys up the wazoo, but will not be defeated, in fact he CANNOT be defeated.

Nonetheless, Superman would eat them both as hors d'oeuvres.
