the consequences would be farther reaching than a lot of people think.

No nukes for a start. Would we still be at war with Europe or Japan over that whole Hitler thing ? No cold war. No Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Terrorists wouldn't have the option of possibly nuking a city with a suitcase bomb.

No Global Arms race, no need for disarming pacts to remove silos.

No nuclear power. Chernobyl would never have been a wasteland after the accident. A lot of people would be living in the dark and candle factories would be a really good industry.

The face of the entertainment industry would be a lot different as well. Think about how many spy movies have been all about stealing nuclear secrets and such.
