Subject: Long Distance (Warning: May not be suitable for all)

Okay, you wanna hear some stupid BS? I'm gonna give it to ya!

I had a long distance bill which was past due. About three weeks ago, I sent a check for the amount in full. A few days later, I get a call from Joe Youcanblowme who is obviously a scatterbrained son of a bitch (I'll explain that in a little while). Now, I didn't get his name, but I'm sure he told it to me. Anyway, he told me that he could knock off a decent amount from my payment which I had already sent in. (Along with that, I wrote a little note telling them to cancel my service from now on.) The payment hadn't gotten there yet though. He let me pay a discounted fee over the phone. I thought, "Oh wow! That's freakin' cool. You rock, dude!" I then proceeded on the next day to stop payment. Of course, there's enough of a chunk of a fee that is charged on payment stoppage (dammit!). I accepted since it would be less than what I was going to save. Everything was hunky-dory and all that neat crap until...

...today, when I got a little note in my mailbox from the LD company. To paraphrase in my words and add some stuff: "You stopped payment on a check. What the hell did you do that for? We're gonna add ten bucks to your balance! Pay us now or we'll stalk you like the service-cancelling backstabber that you are!"

I could, but I couldn't, believe it! I called them up. The first guy answers and blah-blah-blah. "We don't show that payment." It obviously had been made because the balance was less. He was probably confused, and I can understand that. "I'll transfer you to customer service."

I talked to the rep after waiting for at least 10 freakin' minutes. I told her the situation, and she said that no notes had been made by anyone about a discount. I'm pacing and thinking "What the f***?" Like I said earlier, Joe Youcanblowme is a scatterbrain for sure! She told me that maybe the financial dept would know something about it becuase they did that sort of thing. Apparently not, because the next woman that I talked to said that they don't do that, they just collect. Okay, it's now Attack of the Dumbasses! Sheesh!

I get transferred AGAIN, back to customer service! This next woman, who has not mastered the English language totally, told me that she knew of my situation because it had been recorded. She couldn't help me. Time to transfer ONCE AGAIN! I get an answering machine message, then get hung up on!

I called back, and it transferred me automatically to collections. The next person that I talked to basically told me since there is no record of it, I'd have to pay the amount IN FULL, WITH the $10 charge!

Many questions ran through my mind.

Do they actually RECORD each and every conversation? Well, they don't obviously. Of course, I know they probably didn't that night. "Your call MAY be monitored..." Key in on MAY. Yeah, exactly. MAY!

Are they punishing me for cancelling? Shuh, I would hope not! That's just illegal, immoral, and just plain wrong! Of course, who said anything was perfect? I think they were out for revenge. (The backstabbing, greedy bastards!)

Okay, this is gotten to the point where I'm making more BS out of their BS.

The only way out-of-state long distance will get MY business anymore is either through my cell phone or through a prepaid calling card that has no collections and no people pulling strings! Of course, my ex-carrier's phone cards will NOT get MY business, dammit!

Those bloodsuckers can just KMMFA!!!!!!!

That's it. Have a nice freakin' day!
