Hi Sara,

I am also researching the name TILLEY/TILLY but there are two variations of the name due to divide in the family. My 2 x great grandfather JAMES TILLY and my 1 x great grandfather JOHN TILLY was born in Swinden in Wiltshire and that is as much as I know about them before they came to Sunderland. My grandfather was JOHN TILLEY. I have no idea as yet to where he was born. It has been suggested that there are family links with both names in Wales.
