Subject: McCLARENCE/McLARENCE and SLOAN(E)

Researching my elusive G-Grandparents:
Francis/Frank McCLARENCE/McLARENCE - b. c1854 in Birtley, Durham, England - married c1874 - emigrated to Spring Valley, Bureau County, Illinois, USA bewtween 1881 and 1883. He is in the Brandon and Byshottles 1881 Durham Census in Willington, Durham where he was a coal miner. The census lists Francis along with his wife, Sarah SLOAN, and their 3 children: Mary Ann/Marie McCLARENCE - b. 1875 in Willinton, Durham; Henry John McCLARENCE - b. 1877 in Boyne Colliery, Durham; and Michael McCLARENCE - b. 1881 in Browney Colliery, Durham.

Sarah Elizabeth SLOAN(E) - b. 1855 in Belfast, Ireland - christened at Manchester Cathedral, Manchester, Lancashire in 1861. Sarah's death certificate lists her parents as Michael SLOAN(E) and Susan MULDOON although I have no documentation other than the death certificate.

If anyone knows anything about these families or are reasearching these names, I would appreciate a contact.

Thank you. Diane Nelson-Roberts
