Subject: MCGINTY, RITCHIE

Looking for information on John MCGINTY m. Sarah RITCHIE. John MCGINTY b. 1799-1800, Sarah RITCHIE b. 1803. John is said to have been a poor Cathlic stableboy who worked for the wealthy Protestant parents of Sarah RITCHIE. We do not know if they married in Cavan or in America. By 1823 they were in Port Edward, NY where their daughter Ann was born. We do not know if there were any children born before Ann. They had a son Robert b. 1828 in Canada. We do not know if there were children born between Ann and Robert. They had a daughter Sarah b. 1831 in Canada. Their son John was born in NY in 1833. Son Thomas was b. 1837 in IN, sons William and Samuel both born in IA in 1842 and 1846, respectively and daughter Jane b. IA in 1847.

There appears to be a connection with the MCGINTY family and the Patrick and Matthew LANAGHAN family. A daughter of Bernard MCGINTY, named Catherine married Matthew LANAGHAN. Patrick and Matthew LANAGHAN are referred to as cousins and therefore we believe that Bernard may have been the nephew of John MCGINTY.

Any information would be appreciated.
