Subject: Basford Workhouse

Can someone please tell me the name of the church that inmates of the Basford Workhouse would have likely attended? Specifically, I'm interested in Church of England, where 1836-1840 records would have been kept, and if any records are available these days. I believe my gg grandfather, Robert SPRINGTHORPE, born in 1836, was born in the newly-opened Workhouse, and I've hit a brick wall in locating his birth/christening record. Thank you kindly.
