I have always heard those old lines:
"what we see is not necessarily the truth"
“Don’t believe everything your read,”
and the one I enjoy the most
“Trust me.”

now tell me if you can’t believe what you see
and only half of what you read
how in the heck can you fall for
“trust me?”

Are we so indoctrinated that
we assume that these statements
are true without question?
Could they be wrong or maybe right?

Is the need of interesting reading so great
That we over look the obvious?
That some people will print any thing
For a dollar.

Shall we discuss that age old
Parents scape-goat of an answer?
“Maybe”
Now tell me does it mean yes or no.

These walls of innocence or ignorance
I am not sure which it is
Or if it is just something silly
Man needs to lavish himself in.

They say that "Intolerance is a barrier to understanding",
But now I ask you is it intolerance or tolerance?
For to do one, is not to do the other.
So which way should we look at the old sayings?

I for one am waiting as I have always been
For someone to enlighten the world
As to the true meanings of these
Ancient statements.

Are you going to be the one
That sets us free of the shackles that
Fill our minds with these words?
I know one thing for sure.
It will not be I.
