As pictures swirl into words,
And words into pictures.
Mind's eye becoming the artist,
Thoughts drawn onto a memory canvas.

I see aged changing faces of friends,
Yet their eyes remain always the same.
It's as though love resides there;
Those windows I look through to their spirits.

Then there is every other earthly thing;
I can begin anywhere but I'll begin here.
A sweet new born baby's face so fresh,
Still so wonderfully untouched by worldly pain.

That happiness of being alive still etched on cheeks,
Simply human and so innocent of coming influence.
The future of its planet gripped gently in tiny hand;
While an embrace is all that it asks for for now.

Then I see skies with colors no paints can reproduce,
Yet my brain has stored them forever on its pallete.
I looked upon a miracle from first moment of breath;
For my tiny hand gripped the finger of this life's source.

I see other creatures that wander the lands and seas;
So in awe of these which have never started wars,
Survival the only crime they have ever committed.
Greedy intentions never having lived in their thoughts.

So we turn and turn and turn on a world that could be paradise;
This painter of something hopeful continuing until his last breath,
Believing endings brought forth with an effort may help.
Always dreaming of something better for all living things.
