Cascading through windows;
the wind is cold and dark
Overwhelming my windshield wipers;
the rain never seemed so constant
These nights will pass by
I'm well aware
Yet a part of me isn't ready
to go on
This premature sunset will leave;
its only a matter of time
Until, I drive aimlessly
Speeding through a yellow light never seemed so meaningful
Days never felt so cold
I left my jacket in the car
The wind slithers under my shirt;
silently, it makes its way to my heart
The tears slip out of my eyes unnoticed
Unwanted, I wipe them away with my forearm
Hands on my forehead, I know this position all too well
Make no mistake, these are fall nights
