The Creek

There's a freshwater creek nearby my home
The water is always so cool and clear
You can see down to the stony bottom
Oh, but not into the creek's restless heart.

There's a freshwater creek nearby my home
It is my own small piece of paradise
The shady forrest surrounds, embracing
Yet, the elusive water rushes on.

There's a freshwater creek nearby my home
It has a little waterfall that runs
Underneath the bridge to the other side
Of the woods, moving on its hurried path.

There's a freshwater creek nearby my home
The gleaming sun sneaks through the Pines and shines
On the rolling ripples of the water
Making it twilight's own glimmering pool.

There's a freshwater creek nearby my home
In Summer the townspeople all drop by
Couples, children, even dogs take a dip
In the brisk currents of our busy creek.

There's a freshwater creek nearby my home
The visitors come and go in season
In Winter the creek whispers in silence
With snow-flocked Firs to witness its passing.

There's a freshwater creek nearby my home
Here, I notice the rhythm of nature
I see the creek always slipping away
And I'm reminded I, too, must move on.
