Prissy’s Adventure
Lady Jennifer lived alone
with Prissy her Siamese cat
The commode was her throne
and nothing could change that
One day Jon, the neighbor’s son
came knocking on the door
“Prissy, come and have some fun”
The cat jumped down to the floor
Jon opened the door a little bit
to let the cat escape outside
On the step he and the cat did sit
not seeing the Doberman was untied
Jon heard a threatening growl
from the Doberman he now saw
Prissy gave a feline hissing howl
and dug into Jon with her claws
Jon let out a blood curdling scream
sending the cat running for a tree
Could this be a terrible dream
where, oh where, did the cat flee
The dog was barking, raising a fuss
causing Lady Jennifer to awake
She heard Jon calling, “Here Puss”
Lady Jennifer began to shake
Looking outside she saw the dog
barking at the base of the tree
She looked up; her mind was in a fog
there sat Prissy meowing pitifully
Jon, on the step, was crying tears
wishing the cat were back on her throne
Lady Jennifer’s heart was filled with fears
knowing poor Prissy was on a limb alone
She knew this was a time for action
but what on earth was she to do
That Doberman wanted satisfaction
would he leave by yelling “BOO”
She stood there wailing so very loud
Jon knew there was something he must do
Prissy seemed as far up as a cloud
somehow he would have to get there too
He ran to the tree as fast as he could
and began climbing up the trunk
At the base of the tree the Doberman stood
Said Jon, “Get away you overgrown lunk”
Little by little Jon climbed the tree
getting ever closer to the cat
He said, “Prissy, I’ll get you free
don’t move, or you’ll fall ker-splat”
Finally Jon reached Prissy on the limb
and softly stroked her fur
saying, “Prissy, things are not so grim”
He heard Prissy begin to purr
He placed the cat inside his shirt
and started back down the tree
Prissy sensed she would not be hurt
and did not try to flee
To Lady Jennifer, Jon handed the cat
seeing tears of joy flow down her cheek
Lady Jennifer gave Prissy a loving pat
Jon stood there dreading to speak
He said, “I am sorry I was the one
who let Miss Prissy outside
I thought we could have some fun
instead Prissy was frightened,” he sighed
Lady Jennifer took Jon in her arms
and gently stroked the curls on his head
She said,“Miss Prissy came to no harm
Jon you have nothing to dread”
I do ask you never to do this again
You may play with Prissy inside
I know she is your dearest friend
Check with me, together we’ll decide
