I believe also in the power of prayer. Yet sometimes, I’m overwhelmed with Life’s burdens And I don’t take time to notice all that’s there. It seems I live my life as though a story And never listen to my heart nor feel the breeze. But as soon as a loved one falls sick or dying I suddenly find strength to fall to my knees. I know that God knows I’m not evil, I just don’t know what path, yet, I’m on. My heart hurts so very much inside When I don’t say goodbye till someone’s gone. Don’t you think we’re all like that Though most may be too proud to confess. We don’t appreciate the love in our lives Until we have to feel the emptiness. At twenty-two, you’d think I’d know better And let friends and family know of my love. Sometimes, they leave so suddenly That goodbyes just never do come. Two deaths this week has left me shaken And I find that star that leads to Him. I don’t pray for my good health and fortune, Only that He opens His gates to let them in. Do you think that we are being tested In our belief in Heaven’s great Kingdom? I’d give anything to say goodbye to them, Unfortunately, goodbye did not come. We never know our endings in life, I’d hate to be caught in that gray state Where I haven’t said one prayer to Him And forever sealed my fate.
