Those who've gone before us have
Carved the Path in stone
Claiming the journey's easier to travel all alone

But some of us want to carve our way
With our own blood, sweat and tears
Learning from our own mistakes and conquering our own fears

Those who've gone before us have
Carved the Laws in stone
Admonishing -- we must obey -- for our sins, we must atone

But some of us want to break away
From the rules that came before
Our lives belong to us -- Not someone else's metaphor

Those who've gone before us have
Expressed it very clear
That those who disobey will always disappear

But some of us are weary
Of the chains that bind us close
We want to break the shackles that keep us comatose
