A tall gray mare enters. She noses in a large buckskin colt newly born. She whinnys standing prtectively over him. She needed a stallion, the herd she was with had been stricken with anger towards her and she did not want Ash to grow up in that. SHe nuzzles her colt lovingly.

The tiny colt walked tremblingly behind his mother. He was only a few hours old and he didn't know what to think. He made his first nicker to his mother and lipped her belly that was standing above him. He was hungry. He began to suckle taking great gulps of milk.
