Zudem fehle ihr die von dem Künstler entwickelte Technik des „Sfumato“. Diese besteht darin, Landschaften und Gegenstände in einen rauchigen Dunst zu hüllen. Bei der „Mona Lisa aus dem Prado“ treten daher Einzelheiten hervor, die dem Original fehlen oder dort nur verschwommen dargestellt sind: Sie hat zum Beispiel Augenbrauen, die auf dem Bild im Louvre fehlen; beim Kleid sind der Saum am Ausschnitt und die Falten klarer zu erkennen.
