Wie 2009 von der London Times berichtet wurde, hatte Anfang Mai das Treffen eines “geheimen Milliardärsclub” in New York stattgefunden; zu den Teilnehmern zählten u.a. David Rockefeller, Ted Turner und Bill Gates. Es drehte sich alles um die Frage, “wie ihr Reichtum benutzt werden könnte um das Bevölkerungswachstum der Welt zu verlangsamen”. Wir kritisierten die Verzerrung in der Berichterstattung der Massenmedien, wo die Teilnehmer als besorgte, wohlwollende Philanthropen präsentiert wurden. Ted Turner hatte beispielsweise öffentlich schockierende Programme zur Bevölkerungsreduktion befürwortet, welche die Weltbevölkerung um 95% verkleinern würden.
