Subject: Bundesrechnungshof - Mehrwertsteuer-Ermäßigung auf den Prüfstand

Das finanzielle Volumen der Entlastung beziffern die Prüfer auf rund 20 Milliarden Euro jährlich.

Der Rechnungshof kritisiert beispielsweise, dass nicht allein alltäglich notwendige Lebensmittel von ermäßigten Steuersätzen profitierten. Auch Feinschmeckerartikel wie Wachteleier oder frische Trüffel unterlägen dem ermäßigten Steuersatz. Dagegen werde etwa Mineralwasser mit dem vollen Satz von 19 Prozent belastet. "Bei vielen anderen Lebensmitteln mutet die Abgrenzung zwischen Regelsteuersatz und ermäßigtem Steuersatz gleichermaßen willkürlich an", heißt es in dem Prüfbericht weiter.
