I attended Bexley Ladies College in Sydney in about 1955. It was a boarding school then and Mrs Melluish gave me piano lessons. Miss Scott was the other principle at the college at that time. It was a girls only school during the period that I attended. A student named Judy was my best friend there and we had the job of walking Mrs Melluish's two little dogs around the block twice each day. Mrs Melluish also had a big white cockie which would sit at the head of the table at meal times and would eat food from between Mrs Melluish's lips. I remember thinking at the time that it was gross! The cockey lived at other times with its cage on a board placed across a bath tub. We had to clean all the messy droppings that fell into the bath before we could take a bath! The buildings were very old and dilapidated and there were no showers. On Sunday nights, our dinner was jelly and cake. The things you remember!
