Subject: CRICHTON

Richard Crichton, b. Port Elizabeth, South Africa, 1861; m. Patience Wells, two daughters - Margaret & Barbara.

Richard was a baker in PE during the 1880s. In 1885 he suddenly left the Cape; was thought to be in New Zealand. Later he is believed to have lived in Australia and bred horses for the army, either for the Boer or First World Wars or both. In 1906/7 he contacted the Colonial Office in Cape Town re his father's estate but never reappeared in Port Elizabeth.

Richard's brother, David Crichton, b. Auchterarder, Scotland, 1859 died in an accident in Sydney, NSW, in 1887. Entry in death register confirmed. David left a wife and two sons in Port Elizabeth (Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Area), South Africa.

Are there any Aussie Crichtons descended from these people. If so, we are related. Contact welcomed.
