am runing RHAL-2.1 with Sendmail (default with rhas21) and squirrelmail. details are as below.

[root@ns root]# rpm -q squirrelmail
squirrelmail-1.4.3a-0.1.7.x
[root@ns root]# rpm -q sendmail
sendmail-8.11.6-9.72.1
[root@ns root]# rpm -q kernel
kernel-2.4.9-e.3
[root@ns root]# rpm -q apache
apache-1.3.23-10
[root@ns root]#

root@ns root># rpm -q imap-2001a
imap-2001a-10.0as

Problem is downloading the attachments with squirrelmail webinterface. I am able to send mail attachment without any problem but when I am downloading the mails (multiple) than it gives the save as option and than it saves files name untitled and format gives "mixed". and than it download the file in uNICODE 64 format (unreadable). even if u save and give it manual extension type.

In the other hand with outlook client or netscape mail client its working fine. (no problem with sending attachments)

Additionally i have reinstalled the rhas-2.1 and changed the apache 1.3 to apache-2 but problem remained same. I tried changing the download.php (downloading script of squirrelmail) with some new version of SM. but problem is same.

I hvae tested through the webmin admin interface (webmail) and read the all users mail without any problem. attachments are also downloading properly.

for the same I have tried to get help from Linux gurus + Redhat India New Delhi but got nothing. I sat around the my linux box in the evening and tried play around the download.php script. I was sure that problem is with the script not with RHAS system. but these Squirrelmail any version [I have tried all releases on the rhas2.1 box] but result was same [not able to download the attachments] it downloads but in MIXED file type]. I spened more than 4-5 hrs doing the study of other download scripts [as I don't know the PHP prgramming but logically I am sound with programming with other languages].

anyhow I reprogrammed few lines of the /usr/share/squirrelmail/src/download.php file and got success. attached file is the final working download.php.

So my friend plz don't be confussed if u have any problem and got solution u must publish to the linux communities so that any 1 facing problem can feel relexed!!
